The cute mama in this family and I go way back…spending a lot of time together as teenagers, and is someone I will always consider a friend! Another thing I love about doing what I do is that it gives old friends and I a reason to get together!
It was so great seeing Lisa and her cute little family…Her little boy was so serious, I couldn’t crack him! Glad I was able to catch him in a few moments of joy with his parents…those times are what life is all about!

after having the privilege of being there for sawyer’s birth, I was so glad when his family brought him into the studio for an official newborn session.

We are so excited for our whimsical sleepytime sessions we have planned for September 3rd. Does your little man like to sleep in his superman pajamas with a cape? heather and I have been friends since 4th grade, forming an instant bond over four-square when she was the only one that would play with me at recess, hahaha…I have so many fun memories of us growing up together, from Indian Bread to the many H & K’s businesses that we started in her basement. (I still find it hard to believe that our fashion design business didn’t take off…we had some solid skills for sure!)
When the mom of this family emailed me, I was so excited to be able to photograph her family, and to meet her! I’ve known her online for a few years now, and she’s always been so helpful as I was starting out on this crazy photography journey I’ve been on! One of the best parts of photography is the awesome community…I’ve met (and not met technically, just online) some of the best people through it and I am so grateful for that!
I’m SO excited to be announcing our next Sprout Out and About session, and also including the schedule for the remainder of 2010!
I’ve been looking forward to this family session for such a long time..see, the mama in this cute family is Aubrey, who does all of the cute family movies with me. We’ve worked together so much the last year, I was so happy to be able to be the photographer for her own family session! When she told me her vision for the session as in a wheat field and dreamy, I was completely on board! 
I met up with the Romrell family this past week for a video session including the fabulous Aubrey of 
I met with this family for a quick session last week to get some family pictures before their son and his family move to California to continue on with their education, what better time to get family pictures! I’m a huge advocate for getting family pictures, so I’m always happy to see these big families getting together. It’s so fun to have these pictures years down the road, being able to see how much the little ones have grown…one of the many things I love about photography! I had Katlin and her cute little family in the studio last week for a maternity session. Katlin is a fabulous photographer herself, so I was honored to take her maternity pictures! Isn’t she such a beautiful mama-to-be? I love cute little preggo women, they have such a glow! And big brother was such a cutie, I love the images I was able to get of him!
I met with this cute little family a few weeks ago for a mini-session..it was just perfect weather for a shoot, which is nice (finally!) I had a great time getting to know their kiddos…finding out what they loved to do (pretend to shoot at birds), the things they loved (her baby doll, whose name has escaped my head right now, but it’s definitely a boys’ name) and who their sweet little girl is going to marry (who just happens to be named “muddy nips”….No really, I can’t make this stuff up!) Anyway, such a cute little family, and I had a blast photographing them!
Leading up to this session, the weather had been iffy, but it looked pretty good as we were headed to the location, this sweet family traveling clear from Tooele to have their session….Unfortunately, the weather didn’t hold and decided to dump rain on us…but we got a few cute shots in the meantime! The cute mom in this family is a friend of mine I met through a local photography board, and is just fantastic at what she does..It’s so flattering (and a little nerve-wracking, if I’m being honest) that great photographers choose me to do their family portraits!
The other morning I woke up a little early, and to no surprise, I had a little visitor in my bed with me…See, pretty much every night our little Lukie sneaks into bed with us, and since my husband leaves for work pretty early in the morning, I really don’t mind an extra snuggler hanging out with me! Anyway, he wasn’t feeling like he wanted to get out of bed, so I went and got my camera and started snapping away….then thought, why stop here? I’m going to document his whole day….so this slideshow was born!
It was such a privilege having this sweet one in the studio this past week…he’s my nephew! This little guy made me an aunt for the 27th time (my dear husband comes from large family!) So glad I was able to capture him at this precious young age…he’s very much loved by his brothers and sisters and the rest of our family!
I was so excited to meet this family at their session, from their emails it seemed like they were so fun, and I was definitely not disappointed! They love to play rough, and are as sweet as you get as well…a perfect combination!
It’s time for the next Sprout portrait party! I met with the Crandall family on a beautiful afternoon up at Mueller Park, and we definitely lucked out with nice weather with all of the crazy weather that’s been going on around these parts! We had such a great time, Mom and Dad were full of jokes, the kids were hilarious and the grand kids were just beautiful! I feel so honored to have captured these family portraits for them, as they haven’t had a whole family portrait in over 15 years! I’m a huge advocate of getting regular family pictures, my own are so priceless to me, and I hope these end up that way for the Crandall family!

I can’t believe these sweet babes are one already! I first met them when they were just teeny tiny, and it’s unbelievable how much they have grown and changed! We had these little cuties here in the studio for their one year old session, and man, they *worked* me hard! Both me and their mama were sore after this session! 
So excited to get my first post up on the blog, and I couldn’t ask for a better family to share! We have been planning this session for a while, and I’m so happy with how everything turned out! Mama wasn’t planning on being in the pictures, but due to a pretty persistently shy baby girl, she got to join in on the fun, and I’m so glad she did…Every mom need some pictures with her babes!
it seems a tradition to buy a new outfit for eater. i remember getting my pretty new dress each year when i was a little girl. whether it is for a religious celebration or to welcome the warming of the earth and the blooming of bulbs, it always feels so good to wear a new bright spring outfit. easter is this weekend and i wanted to let everybody know that we still have availability on saturday, april 3rd for our easter special. bring your family into the studio for a $25 mini (half hour) session this friday and saturday. call me today to book your appointment. i can’t wait to see all the children in their fresh new get-ups. l, logan 801-244-2778
i am so excited to announce to all of you that this week, kelli bramble “portrait artist extrordinaire” will be joining our sprout photo team. Kelli has such a skill and talent for capturing the life and essence of her subjects and i think she is a perfect fit with for sprout photo. Please take a moment to view some of her portraits, and appreciate the beauty of her work and the skill of her craft.
little eva jolley came into the studio for her 1 year old portraits. she was such a little darling and had the absolute best laugh i have ever heard come from a little one. i even took video of her so i could record that laugh and i listen to it when i need a little laugh. her mother anna, was so prepared for the shoot with the exact type of clothes and props i love to shoot. i advise parents to bring items that are simple and personal like a special blanket made by grandma or an antique rattle that belonged to mom as a baby. eva’s dresses were family heirlooms, worn by several generations of the women in anna’s family. the little neclace was even an antique passed down. i just loved the little white dress, so simple and so fresh. Also, the super sweet leg warmers were hand knitted by eva’s mom anna. i loved them so much that i have made sure to have her make several pairs for the studio.
