They are such a sweet, genuine family…full of love and laughter.  I always feel right at home visiting them….and always leave thinking that  I should probably move to Idaho!

The cute mama in this family and  I go way back…spending a lot of time together as teenagers, and is someone I will always consider a friend!  Another thing I love about doing what I do is that it gives old friends and I a reason to get together!

It was so great seeing Lisa and her cute little family…Her little boy was so serious, I couldn’t crack him!  Glad I was able to catch him in a few moments of joy with his parents…those times are what life is all about!

My first thought when I saw him was that he had changed so much already…and he was only nine days old!  I was so happy to capture these first precious portraits of him, and will be so excited to watch him grow!

If you are thinking of scheduling a newborn session, the best time for these are within about the first 10 days of birth for these squishy, sleepy pictures.  We’re happy to photograph them in our studio, or we can also come to you!

La Caille is an award winning restaurant located at the base of Little Cottonwood Canyon. The grounds of La Caille consist of luscious gardens and walkways with ponds and streams running throughout. There are bunnies and peacocks, chickens and roosters all roaming about. It truly is a wonderful setting for family, senior, and children portraits.

Through the years, we’ve always stayed in touch, sometimes well…sometimes not so well.  But every time one of us picks up the phone to call one another, it’s like we never skipped a beat.  I’m so grateful for her friendship through the years, and was so honored to be able to be a part of this beautiful experience.

Heather had a really long labor, but was a trooper throughout!

Once she was ready to push, however, that went really quickly!  One contraction and baby Sawyer was introduced to the world!

I’ve never been in a delivery room for a birth other than my own babies, so it was kinda neat to see what they did right after she had him..the washing and weighing, etc…

As daddy was getting ready to make the phone calls sharing the good news with the families, he wrote the stats as to not forget.

Welcome to the world Baby Sawyer!

Her little (big) family was so much fun, kept me laughing, and although I can’t prove it, I’m pretty sure I was given bunny ears behind my head at least 100 times during the course of the session.

And I told you they were fun…here’s some proof. 

Our next session will be held on August 7th up in beautiful Park City on the property of the White Barn.  The property has a beautiful barn on it, and is surrounded by beautiful greenery and the backdrop of the Wasatch Mountains.  The  image after the break was taken up there last year, and it’s by far one of my favorite locations to shoot!  (and a side note, I’ll be photographing this cute little family again next month…so excited to see them again and see how their little ones have grown!)

These sessions are about 45 minutes long for $50, which is a third of our normal on-location session fee…I will be shooting from 9am to 7pm with a limited amount of spaces available, so call soon at 801-244-2778!

I also have to admit I have a soft spot for this adorable family..the dad grew up across the street from my husband, and is also good friends with my brother, so I’ve known him for years and years, and it’s been great getting to know Aubrey better and better since we’ve been working together…they are just a sweet, genuine family that loves each other and loves to have fun together..my kind of people!

I can’t believe it has already been a year since Mason was born. Last year I photographed his mommy all glowing in a maternity session and a month later we photographed little newborn Mason in our Sugar House studio. He just celebrated his first birthday with a big party at Gardner Village. Now as a one year old he is such a smarty-pants! He can already say dinosaur and light among many other complex words. Thank you Rachael and Rob for having me photograph your little guy. I just love documenting all the important stages and I am already excited for our next shoot! Happy Birthday Mason!!!

We had so much fun wandering around Wheeler Farm on an absolutely beautiful night and this family was just so cute…both willing to do anything to get their little guy to laugh, and I get the feeling there’s a lot of laughing going on in their home, and that makes me smile!  E was such a sweet little guy who loves sneezes, blocks, Leo the Lion and really *loves* his blankie.

Something a little different that shows a little bit into how I take the portraits of the cute little ones…It’s all about the conversation!  I never ask for a smile…get those kiddos talking and their real personality can be captured, complete with genuine smiles and the twinkle in their eyes…Here are some before and after shots:

And a few of my favorite pictures from the session…Cindy told me that it has been ages since she had some good pictures of herself with her children…As photographers (or mothers, or fathers for that matter), it’s not often we get pictures of ourselves with our children, and that needs to change…get out from behind that camera!

I can’t express the way my heart swells to watch this simple slideshow…Hanging out with my sweet boy, watching him each moment for an entire day, I feel like I fell in love with him over and over 1000 times that day, and definitely learned about seeing the world through the eyes of a toddler, where everything is possible, you just have to figure out how to do it.  I admire the way he looks at life through those wide eyes of wonder with a smile on his face…and I hope to be more like him!

It was such a privilege having this sweet one in the studio this past week…he’s my nephew!  This little guy made me an aunt for the 27th time (my dear husband comes from large family!)  So glad I was able to capture him at this precious young age…he’s very much loved by his brothers and sisters and the rest of our family!
